kako paru (quebrada de
japse)
Kako Paru (Quebrada de Jaspe) is
a small set waterfalls in a forested creek. The name means fire creek
in Pemon and stems from the extraordinary effect water has on the
jasper bed of the river. The action of water polishes this otherwise dull
stone to a fire orange and red colour. The river is very close to the
main highway and camping is easy nearby. A stall sells soft drinks in
the high season.
